got a replacement today from MS

Originally sent a e-mail complaint. never talked by phone.
After stating that I tested rodent on another system, they wanted the serial on the bottom and shipped out a replacement.
Original right button stopped having a tactical click.

I got same kind of problem on mine. Could you please post the email address where you sent your complaint? Thanx!

REALLY, REALLY OLD deal thats been posted many times over several months. I suppose its good for a repost though since it appears not everyone knows about it. It used to only apply if you had an older version of this mouse, like version 1.0 or something.

RU sure this is old? The letter on the website is dated 6/21/02. I just got mine by snail mail today. It sounds to me like this is a significant new change of policy and method. Before, they'd replace your mouse if you bitched enuf via phone or email and it was still under warranty. Now they'll send you one no questions asked, regardless of age - just send in the (new) coupon and photocopy the bottom of your mouse. I suspect someone threatened class action, or they did this to pull the rug out from under the class action guys, knowing they would end up having to do it anyway, plus pay big legal fees.

I own one of the intellieye mouses, and its the only mouse I ever brought that died in lesss than a year,
I've own/used 8-10 logitechs and about the same number of generics. None of them ever gave me problems.
This is just poor design that they should have noticed a LONG time ago.
What I really want more than the replacement is to hurl this thing into bill gates office, but i'll proabaly have to wait in a long line.
Thanks for the post!

The phone number has been posted many times before. You can find it if you do a search.

Do you have to have the original stickers off the box and the receipt? Or can you just turn in the form itself?

I've been using my Intellimouse Optical for over a year without a SINGLE problem!

Ive got 3. 1 never had problems but 2 went bad within 6 months. MS is GREAT in replacing it so I'm very loyal to their hardware despite this problem. Anyway, they used to do it all over the phone but now they direct you to the coupon because i guess they finally admit that its a known problem and have a whole procedure to do.

I was walked through the online coupon procedure by a tech when i called and the form I got said that a photocopy of the bottom of the mouse with the PID number visible is good enough proof of purchase. So if you have the mouse then you have proof of purchase.

This is the number to call for replacements. They can answer any questions that the letter doesn't answer.

Do I need to say Don't Abuse This
