What's that pic then?

I didn't say there was no such thing as hock burns. However, the reason their legs break has nothing to do with "they never get a chance to move their legs." They simply grow faster than their bones can keep up.

OK if that's the case then that's the case, but they still do "never get a chance to move their legs", and personally I don't think being so fat it can't move is any more pleasant for the bird than being so weak it can't move.

Whatever, I love eating meat, but the animal has to be treated right. Anyway what are you claiming - the pic is chopped or something? Hock burns are well known.

Very few animals are treated right.
If you eat meat you are going to just have to accept that fact.

I spend the extra money for good meat and fish so I know where it came from. It also tastes a lot better.

Free range generally means they are caged, but there is a small opening they could potentially walk through to get outside (but usually don't).

I imagined chicken in large pastures roaming around. Sort of like you see cows doing sometimes.

I thought that too. How the hell would they corral them back?

really?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_range "Free range is a method of farming husbandry where the animals are allowed to roam freely instead of being contained in any manner"

The local butcher shop has a farm behind it. You can see the chickens "roam".

When a vegetarian tells me they don't eat meat because of the meat industry, I freely offer venesin, elk, turkey, etc that is hunted from animals that got to live their life wild and free.

Usually get turned down though.
