good: I hear they are very good at paying back the rebates
bad: this can't possibly be a very good business model. I'd expect them to go kaput by the end of the quarter.

Bad biz model when you can collect interest on $109 for 10-14 weeks
Sounds like a pretty good biz model to me.

CyberRebates was reliable for me last year. I ordered two things in September...one they glitched and gave me a refund...I figure it was an instant rebate. The other took 14 and a half weeks. After about nine weeks, you can see online that they have it and are processing it.

However, the stuff they sell is often 400% of what it is other places. Still, if you stick it on a card with 15% intererst, you are only paying shipping (if there is any) and then 4% of the cost in interest for four and a half months. All you are risking is that they may go down. However, after taking in enough business to pay out nearly $57 million in rebates, I doubt they are going anywhere.

By the way, http://www.sparctech.com/newpage2.htm is a site I randomly searched for on the net. They list this card for $24.

Random review on this "entry level" card: http://www.hal-pc.org/journal/oct99/Reviews/audio/audio.html

<< Our special HAL-PC price was right to make this a good deal (Under $20.00 @ time of SharkMM Presentation)! Midi playback was acceptable...

Entry-level Consumer. Good solution for OEM/VAR. Although we prefer predecessor, ?Predator 3D-PCI? (A3D technology), ?Predator 4D-PCI? does the job on a budget.

You could use $10 to buy a similar sound card immedateily,
and put the remaining $100 in saving account to earn interest,
and you always have this $100 in your pocket.

Cyberrebate deals are never deals. I bought something from them several months ago and got my checks. The wait was agonizing and I was ready to just forget about getting my rebate back. I don't like them.

OT: I kinda need a new sound card to play Jagged Alliance 2. The onboard one doesn't work with the game. Is the $7 PCI sound card at Fry's any good?

This cyberrebates thing seems like a Ponzi scheme -- you pay the people of yesterday with the money you get today.

It is bound to go under.
