Free Paper for Spent Ink/Toner Cartridges at Staples

Staples has a table/display setup for bagging your empty inkjet cartridges and laser jet toner.
The sign tells you to bring your empties to a cashier to exchange for a free ream of paper.

OfficeMax and OfficeDepot also do this.

1 ink-cart or toner-cart per customer per day.

you get 1 ream of 20lb white letter "enviro" paper (made from recycled paper)

One word of caution.... these recycled papers are often not as bright, are abrasive (wears out pickups quicker), and dust a lot. I've seen many printers TCO go up by saving a few pennies on paper due to added mantainence costs.

IMHO, I wouldn't bother with these except for those FAR junker inkjet printers.

still nice to have around as scratch paper to draw on or jot notes down.

//krunk (^_^x)

Next time I'm at an auction and pass on a lot of 30 old old old printers that sell for $2, I'll have to buy them, just to take out the ink cartridges. 🙂

The free ream from officemax is better than the free one from officedepot. officemax is 20lb 88 brightness and the one from officedepot is 20lb 84 brightness. I don't know what the weight and brightness is for the staples paper.

Excluding Canon and Epson must be something new. That must cut out 50%+ of the home printers.

I've done this deal before with Staples (using Epson cartridges). The paper was ok-shiny than usual, and takes a second longer to absorb ink, so you can't handle it right away. I've gone through at least 10 packets of it and didn't notice any wear.

I get my free paper from Office Depot. I've turned in Canon's every single time. They don't care much if at all. You should go to the place where you place the cartriage in, and ask them, "is this where I drop it?" And then drop it and grab your paper and go.
