From an ad I saw in the recent June 2 Sporting News:

National Baseball Card Day 2006

Receive a free pack of Special-Edition Baseball Cards only on Saturday, June 17th, 2006.

Topps and Upper Deck have joined together to create an exclusive baseball card pack that's filled with your favorite MLB® stars. It's the perfect way to begin your new collection.

Get your National Baseball Card Day commemorative pack from one of the following retailers or by calling 1-877-CARD-MLB (1-877-227-3652) for a hobby store near you.

While Supplies Last.
A few participating retailers:

Dick's Sporting Goods

Olympia Sports

MLB.com/cards

BC Sports

I believe this deal is in-store only. If you call the 877 number, choose option *2* and enter your zipcode for other participating stores in your area.

Since MLB.com/cards was listed as a participating retailer, you might be able to request a free pack from them online on June 17th. If not, they will probably just direct you to another retailer in your area.

Batter Up! ;)

EDIT/UPDATE: Register for your FREE pack of exclusive baseball cards.

Deal dead :(

The steroid samples are embedded onto "specific" cards...it's a lickable square in the lower right-hand corner. :p
