Its a HOT DEAL if you have XM and want to know what O&A are all about.
Besides. 7 cents a day is cheap for the entertainment. I think out of 4 hours with very limited breaks, you'll get your 7 cents worth if you subscribe.

yes, its an extra $1.99/month. which isn't bad, considering sirius is $12.95/month... so for $11.98/month you get XM+o&a.

Don't bother with this "hot deal" unless you are a male between the ages of 18-40 (their target audience) who loves sexual innuendo, stupid/malicious pranks, and really bad humor. Wanna hear live broadcast of an almost naked woman stuffed into a 50 gallon drum and then have disgusting stuff poured into the drum (live eels, puke, pig intenstines, etc)? Yep, they did that "funny" bit all the time on the radio at 102.7 in NYC. I am sure that their "routine" has gotten much worse now that they don't have to comply with FCC rules.

I liked O&A when they first came to 102.7 in NYC. However, they seemed to run out of genuinely funny material after 1 year, and then resorted to absolute stupidity.

I'd sooner pay not to hear them.

Yup.

Pretty silly, IMO.

Howard Stern is free everyday and is much funnier.

If you think he will be free on Sirius, you are sadly mistaken. 🙂

I hear all the Stern fanboys counting the days till he moves to Sirius. However, I can already see Sirius charing an additional $1-$2 a month just to hear him on satellite radio.

This is a great deal for all current XMers. I have O&A and it is awesome. 🙂

I didn't know there are extra costs for 'premium content'. While $1.99 isn't too bad, what if eventually there are 10 premium stations you want? That stinks, I figured you would get everything with the cost of the monthly subscription.

Thanks for the heads up that Sirius has additional fees for "premium" channels. I'd never pay for O&A (I agree that they are a pale imitation of Howard Stern) but I was considering getting it when Stern goes there.

I got their first month on XM free, completely unlistenable. I gave them a break since they had been off of the air for two years. Gave them another listen today and it is still the same. I am in their demo and love Stern, I just don't get O&A. You can download their show via torrent all over the net. Save your $1.99. I find it funny that they have to give a freeplay, I guess that they are not selling that well. They will also give you the rest of 2004 for free if you order by Sunday. A savings of $1.26, what a deal.

I now have both XM and Sirius and I have to say that Sirius is better. However, I do like the XM equipment better.

And Stern will have 3 stations on Sirius.

you can't listen to o&a just once and 'get' the show... it took a good 2 weeks for me to get it. even after that, you might still not get their humor, but unlike howie, they do more than complain about bush and have strippers on. download the 11/24/04 show, thats a good one... or any of the stuff on http://www.oavirus.com/indexframe.htm from the old days.

and for people bitching that stern is free... even AFTER the premium fee, o&a/xm is still cheaper than sirius.

I'm sure just like satellite TV, and digital cable where there are numerous "premium content" channels; the powers that be will create some sort of packages with multiple premium channels for a decent per month charge.

It's all a matter of walking the fine line between making customers happy and making as much money as possible from them

Hmm, they must have new math now. Sirius is $142 a year with free equipment. Thats $11.83 a month. XM is $11.98 with one premium. Granted you have to pay for a year, but you always do to get free equipment. XM never has offered free equipment. The XM F&F is $49, which is a killer deal, but that requires a 3 month prepay.

I like XM and wish that Stern went there. The arguements against Sirius are weak.

EDIT: Sirius also does one thing that XM doesn't. I can order four F&F Skyfi2 deals for $49 each, each will require three months at $9.99 each. You cannot go family plan on the 2nd 3rd or 4th units until the end of the 3rd month. I can order four Sirius Free units, Xact or Audiovox, and pay $142 a year for the first and $82 a year for the 2nd 3rd and 4th. The family plan on Sirius takes place right away.

if XMs eqpuipment sucked as much as sirius', im sure they'd give it away w/ yearly subs too. but the fact is, it doesn't and they don't. you can get some pretty good equipment deals tho (offer for foundrymusic.com mailing list subscribers goes out today).

edit: (my reply to your edit) you CAN add them to the family plan, you just have to call them up to do it, you can't add them online.

edit again: i love how you took my monthly comparison and somehow turned it into sirius yearly sub vs. XM monthly sub. good job!

This is simply incorrect. You cannot. Not online, or on the phone. Tried it many times, many CSRs. No family plan of prepaid, discounted equipment subs. Try it, you will see that I am correct. I expect an apology.

Well, I would have compared a one year to one year, but XM doesn't have a one year. You have to commit to a minimum of two years for discounts.

Dude, the arguements against Sirius are lame. I have made the same as you, but I learned. I thought that the Sirius equipment was lame, but you know what, I can see the display better that I ever did on my Skifi and my new Skyfi2. Not only is it larger, it does not fade with sunlight. Very nice.

EDIT: And the XM family plan is not available for month to month billing.

Per XM: The XM Family Plan is only available with Credit Card billing at a quarterly, semi-annual, or annual billing frequency.

And, Sirius has always had online streaming for FREE. XM charges $3.99. The XM is cheaper argument is simply incorrect. Do you need me to redo the math?

BTW, I am listening to XM now.

It's already been stated many many times by both Sirius and Stern that they WILL NOT be charging extra when he moves.
