I just got the free version of opera (unregistered, 14 day trial). Wow, anandtech loads way faster than it did before - mainly beucase it loads images last I assume.
Wow, I like how I got a "Quick Reply" box on this forum - I haven't gotten that before. Pretty good stuff.

A few things that piss me off (from my IE experiences):
-When you use the middle mouse key, the cursor jumps to the middle >_<
-When you double click some text (a horrible habit I have), a menu pops up. Kinda pisses me off becuase I do this all the time

Other than that, it's pretty good. I'm sort of confused about the 'mouse gustures' though.

What version has a 14 day trial? 😕

AFAIK, they're all use as long as you want. Reg code only removes the banner.

Opera isn't trialware 😵

There used to be a version of Opera that was ad free for 14 days, then the banner showed up. It was fully functional after the 14 days, just had a banner is all.

Oh. Sorry, then it was my bad then. I can live with the banner 😛.

The second one (double clicking on text) can be disabled if you go into Tools >Preferences > ToolBars > uncheck "Enable Hotclick menu" > Hit Ok.

Dunno about the middle mouse behaviour, but if you look around, there probably is a way to turn that off too.

Preferences>Mouse and Keyboard>Middle Click Options

supposedly the code works on opera v8.0 beta.

but for those who are firefox users (i'm currently using firefox), but i've read many many comparisons (besides 1-liners that claim ff is so much better), that opera performs above and faster than firefox. i haven't given it a try yet, but i might now since i dont need that ad bar.

Free Opera License

At a company meeting in Oslo, Norway on Thursday, Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera, said the company's servers were feeling the strain after thousands of requests for the latest version of Opera's browser.

He will swim from Norway to the United States😀😀😀if one million copies of the company's latest browser are downloaded within four days. The results will be posted on the Opera Web site on Monday.

Edited: Haagar wil be doing the support for the swim. 😀😀😀

(Those Norse are a tough lot!)

Opera rules for one main reason, the shortcut keys z and x work as forward and back. those two keys are the best dang feature in a browser for me. The hiding pop ups is nice since if it is a legit popup you can still acess it easily.

Is 8 so much more desirable than v7? I just downloaded 7.54.

I would say so, as usual each new release is more compatible and shrinks the number of websites that do not work with Opera.

The code will only work in 7.54 if you try it in 8 it won't work.

In my email at the bottom it says that you can purchase v8 for 8.00 euro.

After the release you can acquire Opera 8 at the special price of 8 euro. This offer can be attained exclusive over http://www.opera.com/ct-magazin/buy.dml and you will need the 7.54 registration code emailed to you earlier.
