Absolutely runescape. It's a great game. I'm even a member. $5 a month. But you can play for free.

ummmm www.urbandead.com assuming u can find a group to help u lvl up if u go solo be a zombie and hope for the best

runescape was ok but i quit that and started playing real games my advice is pay <20$ and get Starcraft i love the UMS maps and ended up playing at least a few hundred hours last semester

I used to play AdventureQuest and it was fun, but you can never log in for free anymore. It's pretty much always full, so the only option is to become a paying member.

Neverwinter nights persistant world servers are pretty good and have no monthly fee (they are player-run mods).

The game is cheap nowadays (like $25 at walmart for the game and 5 expansions).
