Does anyone know of any free Windows software that will allow me to create my own offsite backups?
I'm not referring to "cloud" based services, but more along the lines of 2 locations that I have servers set-up that backup to each other.
I'm not concerned with the logistics of the data-throughput needed, I'm just wondering if there is any free software out there that can manage backing up data to a remote location. Preferably with scheduling and the ability to do full/incremental and de-duplication.
I've heard that you can do this with CrashPlan (their free client) by using the "Backup to a friend" option. Supposedly it does de-duplication as well, and will send compressed data to be backed up encrypted over the internet. Has anyone tried this? I'd be curious how well it works before I sign up for an account. I guess you need to register even to use it locally.
