Free Mumble server for use.

Just wondering, I posted a thread earlier this week that I wanted to share my Ventrilo server but didn't get much interest. Would there be more interest for a Mumble server?

I took the time to read up on it and found out that Mumble has better quality, lower latency, great normalization, it's open source and hosting is a lot cheaper. My hosting company says they would swap my ventrilo server to a mumble server if I wanted to.

The switch would be easy since there's low use on vent right now and I could get 50 slots instead of 35 for the same price.

Would anyone be interested in using a Mumble server?

There are plenty of people using voip these days - you might just be looking in the wrong place. If I had a need for it, I'd let you know. But I imagine most people here aren't looking right now.

I agree that Mumble is the best voip solution out there. Great quality, great software.

I have a vent server. In the games I play the people I meet all have vent, only some have Mumble. So I use vent.

I'd love to wrangle up a bunch of people to use Mumble or Ventrilo during BF3 games. Let's see if we can get a thread going on that topic.

We use Teamspeak on our own servers. Don't pay a cent and we're working with someone who's developing a TS plugin for BF3.

I ended up changing my vent server to a mumble server. It's all set up. I can post the info tonight so anyone can use it.

I run a small vent server on my home connection, usually never more than 4 or 5 people on at any time... we just use it when gaming online...
