Free money from my Bank

I just checked my balance online and my bank (Bankcorp South) has deposited $1,400 and $600 respectively on two different dates. They both list 'US Treasury 310' as the company doing crediting. I did some quick research and came across this -> Social Security Payment?

Well it looks pretty enough while it's in there...but I'll call them on Tuesday so I'm not tempted to spend the money.

heh, that'll be fun when they call and say hey that wasn't your 2 grand and i don't have the money

Scare them, withdraw it all, ring them up and tell them thanks for the free money you got yourself some nice things and see if they question it

Assuming his bank account pays 2-3% interest, he's looking at about $3.50/month.

What probably happened though is someone who's account number is one off, miswrote something on his SS Direct Deposit form.

Withdraw it, see what happens.

Don't spend it though, because if it is an error, you are responsible for returning the money (damn, this isn't Monoploy)

wow - you suck at math

If it really is a bank error, and you spend it, you're in for a lot of legal hassle and court time. Best to go to the bank and report it and maybe get some honesty benefits from the bank, because if it is a mistake, they'll just take it out of your account with naught a word said.
