Free Milk Stuff>>

Althought I don't drink milk because I don't believe in it, I DO believe in free stuff, and I do know people that drink milk. Thanks much!

I think he meant he doesn't believe in milk's value in human nutrition [correct me if I am wrong, GB]...and I agree with that position.

Milk is perfect for getting baby cows to grow to 600 lbs. in 6 months; I wouldn't give it to a human though :Q I don't want to get into a debate here, but for those that ARE interested in the other side of the milk issue, you may benefit from this link

the only thing I don't believe in drinking on a regular basis would be the full fat milk and even the 2% is a splurge for me. That's only because it's unholy pumped with saturated fat.

The stuff about cancer is largely overgrown and you can get organically certified milk.

As for soy milk, I can't stand the garbage they sell at the markets! Jesus, it's just not right. For example the Vitasoy they sell has been messed with so it tastes more like real milk. That's not what soy milk is supposed to be *sigh*. Their Vanilla is something more resembling real soy milk but it's still emulsified just for milk-like texture or some crap.

That can NOT be much healthier than skim milk, if at all. If you want good soy milk I'd make it yourself, it's really not that hard.

Plus that would be the real hot deal lol. Just invest in a cheesecloth, some soy beans, and a blender (well and a pot I guess) and you'll be making soy milk in no time. Add sugar to taste and there you go.

You can increase or decrease the texture of the soy milk you make yourself with water and how many presses you use the soy beans for. It's pretty easy once you start. Just take soy beans you can buy in bags(dried out) and soak them in water overnight. The next day they should be soft enough to blend in a blender. Then you take this blended goop add water, put it into the cheesecloth bag(no leaks or you're gonna have some chunky ass milk lol, and just squeeze the milk out into a big pot. Then just add more water to the left over stuff in the bag dump back into blender, blend for a bit, repeat squeezing thing.

I'd do this until the milk you see coming out looks too thin. You can sorta decide what's too thin for yourself since everybody has different tastes. Then just boil it and voila.

I suppose if you're anal about it you can emulsify it yourself or something to make it seem more like milk lol. But I think that just makes it taste like crap so there you go.

Good info, TD 🙂

I'm too lazy to do all that, and having been off milk for 15 years or so, I personally don't have a need to mimic the exact taste of milk...so when I get the urge, I simply put some organic almonds in a blender with water, blend, and strain through a fine strainer. Almond milk tastes pretty good to me, though not like cow's milk; quick, easy and healthy. Amazake, made from rice, is another interesting alternative beverage, with a fuller taste.

well, i c milk as drink, not as a nutritious god. how could u eat cereal w/o milk? cookies w/o milk? it just makes stuff taste better. ^_^x

I agree with weepul here, cookies without out milk.... come on is there no heaven. And what are you supposed to drink with a big bite of a really chewy brownie...Water. . . .I don't think so!!

>>>how could u eat cereal w/o milk?<<<

I can. I use "Better Than Milk?" - powdered product. I use it in almost any recipe that calls for milk.
