Hate to crap on your thread but I think you need to raise the stakes. Memory (even Mushkin High Perf 1.5) is pretty cheap right now. Any designer with one site under their belt needs more than $100 worth of memory to make it worth their while.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Windogg. Site design is a lot of work. If I were to design a site from scratch, trying to be original, I'd put at least 20 hours into it; with current ram prices, that works out to around $4 an hour.

In all seriousness, I would recommend that you give it a shot first. I originally (with my Benefit Hike Site www.hikefordiabetes.org) had a similar idea to what you have, but decided to pool my energy and time and design it myself. It's been rewarding, and a few weeks later, is almost finished.
