I upgraded to XP, and I can't stand the new bloaty WMP, and I cant even go in true full screen mode since there's that anoying bar on BOTH top and bottom, and lot of other anoyances. So I'm looking for an alternative. I want something plain and simple, as long as it plays most video and audio formats. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Version 9 in skin mode seems fine to me. No need to upgrade any further in my opinion. Full screen does work if you click on the pin icon. XP still includes WMP 6.4 if you go to the command line and type in mplayer2. That is an option that requires no additional downloads.

WMP11 FTW!! And BTW that annoying bar top and bottom of WMP on Windows XP when in full screen mode disappears when you leave the mouse alone for about 5 secs...If it stays there then something is wrong, make sure the Pin icon in the top right (when in full screen mode) isn't on.

Media Player Classic.

If I want to play a video, I don't want to wait, dammit! And that's all I want to do is to watch a video!

I love this thing.

I prefer Media Player Classic (link), but VLC (link) and Mplayer (link)) are also good. For Mplayer, you just need the "Precompiled MPlayer win32 GUI binaries" and "Precompiled Mplayer binaries" packages.
