has anyone gotten magazines from this website? do they come through?

Yeah, i started getting them a few months a go. Its amazing how time flies, it seems like i just got one and here another one was there a few days ago.

I signed up for the previous free sub for Maxim and Blender in March, and yes I have been getting them! My sub is valid until March 2005!

The reason why these publishers are giving out free copies is to boost circulation figures to attract ad sales. These type of subscriptions are called "Qualified Controlled", which means they are sending free copies to individuals of a certain demographic target, who responded and verified that "they really exist". Publishing companies are audited for their circulation figures and the requirements are quite stringent. They cannot say they circulated X amount of copies to people who don't really exist to boost figures.

Free offers (like this one) come under publication audit rules. So if anything bad/scam happens, you can send complaints to the BPA or ABC publication audit bureaus.

Hell yeah. I have to have it sent to my house since my address at school won't be consistent for more than a year. I also had a free St. Pauli Girl bottle opener sent there and I'm not even 21 yet!

Parents will forget stupid things you do but the opportunity for free stuff only comes along every once in a while....

I got the free St. Pauli Girl poster from awhile back (I'm only 16 hehe), my dad saw it told me he used to have a St. Pauli girl poster.

You have a pretty cool dad 🙂

I don't think my dad would mind one bit. However, I only live with my mom. She is entirely adamant about not drinking. Let's see, I have that free bottle opener coming and I have a Budweiser bottle opener on my keychain. Think she'll catch on? 😉

I'm going to be 19 in July so it's not TOO bad 😀

I got the Stuff one before... thanks for the Maxim... heck, I actually still have another year on my current sub that's actually paid for! :Q

Nice to finally see the advertisers finally appealing to the anandtech demographic. With anandtech as subsibers profits should go sky high=).

The offer states new subscribers only, and my current sub doesn't expire until 2007, I think, but thwta the heck. i signed up anyone. if I get duplicate issues, I'll take a copy to my local firehouse OR contact their customer support and request they add the duplicate sub top my existing subscription. Hey, it's worth a shot, right? I actually am a paying subscriber, so adding the free issues to the end of my apid subscription might be a great deal.

Thanks guys! I got me some stuff!

Straight from their website:

What's the Catch?

There Is None.

As you may know, most of the profits in magazine publishing come from advertising sales. It's just like TV: the higher the ratings, the more they charge for the commercials. With magazines, the more readers, the more they charge for the ads.

Because of our standing in the industry, from time to time, publishers will contact MagazineCity with special offers like these in an effort to boost circulation. There is no credit card required, you won't get a bill, and there is never an obligation to buy or pay for anything at any time. Also, your name and address will be only be shared with the publisher to ensure delivery of the magazine. Other than that, your name and email address will never leave our offices or be sold to other marketers.

Hey, it's a good thing

I got this on an earlier deal, but be warnned, they call you a LOT to "find out if you are satisfied"

How can they call you alot when they don't ask for your phone number? They didn't ask for mine anyway...

I jumped on this one. I got the Stuff subscription a few months back and other than the pics of the hotties, that mag is crap - which is why I just look at the pics 🙂

Hopefully Maxim will be a more "well-rounded" mag.

BTW, the wife browses my Stuff mag all the time so no worries there!
