are these guys going to bill me after the "free" time is up? Do i need to worry about remembering to cancel these things, in other words...?

same question.

And is Computer World like Maximum PC?

From the Computer World website.......

Target Audience - IT Leaders?the Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers of IT in Fortune 2000 companies

I leafed through a copy at a local newsstand once and it contained a lot of industry news and such. Not my thing, but to each his/her own.

Now Maximum PC on the other hand is all about hardware reviews for the home computer user with an emphasis on gaming. I've subscribed to this magazine for three years and always read it from cover to cover the same day it hits the mailbox.

My answer to your question IMHO would be "no".

Oh, and thanks to original poster. I picked up a subscrition to E Gear.

i just got the latest stuff mag today and my subscription expires april 2010.......so i think i'll add another 2 years....

Signed up for E-Gear. I believe I was added to this mailing list also, so use this link to remove yourself.

Unless their "publications" are your kind of thing.

I used pseudonyms for both... somehow they've got my real name now... I'm getting phone calls thanking me for my prompt payment on the subscription....

And, someone mentioned to me that there have been people whose subscriptions have been automatically renewed and charged to their credit cards.... how the heck this happened, I don't know.
