Mandrake rocks.. it's basically Red Hat with much more current stuff in some areas, and without the glibc controversy...its based on RedHat so you can use rpm, etc. Check out rufus.w3.org/rpmfind/ for thousands of apps to run on it...

Of course, all Linux CDs are free.. you just have to download those .iso's and burn em.
(Linux has to be free.. its the law..those cds you see in stores are just a convenience for the lazy or bandwidth challenged.. (I do all of my linux installs with a net-boot disk that installs everything right off the net..)
