Staples B&M has "Spanish Now" (433589), "Italian Now" (433596) and "French Now" (433590) on sale for $19.94. Each package comes with a $20 rebate. The packages also include one of those cheap Mics that sticks onto your monitor.

According to the rebate form inside the box, you may use up to 3 rebates per household.

Cool software. Used by the US government & major teaching institutions if the blurbs inside the package are correct. Heck of a deal considering these are $50 packages.

Also, it checks your pronunciation using waveforms.

FYI about the $20 rebate....

My gf picked up the French software in July 2000.... Sent in rebate promptly.

Rebate "should" have been back around Sept or October. It JUST came in the mail last week.

My $.02

Those rebates....ugh . Do you have copies of everything ? Some retailers like Costco will stand behind them and give you the $ without a fight (they realize what a satisfied customer is worth) if the rebates don't show up . I don't how Staples is about this. I guess I'll take the gamble and buy the Spanish version today.

Edit/ updatee- I bought it today 19.94 + sales tax - MIR. The rebate form asks for the usual name, address, phone #, email stuff and.... a short 6 question questionaire with 4 innoccuous questions but then you get to #5 m or f (okay no big deal) then #6- Birth date MM/DD/YY(OK I could give them a fake date but I would rather give no personal info - they're going too far . I intend to called them and find out if the questionaire portion is optional.

(Bump) This is a useful program. I called their rebate # and got a recording to dial another # (the Language Now #) which refered me to a 3rd # for rebate questions. I asked about the DOB thing and the guy told me year of birth is OK (obviously they'll get a random one but I'd rather leave this item blank)

I also purchased 2 of these software titles from Staples in early December. I still haven't gotten the rebates, which totaled $80 at the time of purchase. After about 5 phone calls I've been told they are currently paying out rebates for items purchased in October. With any luck they say I might see my money in May.

So, buy them if you need them, but not just because they're free! Unless you don't mind them holding your money for 6 months.

Six months to get a rebate is an outrage! My family and I have played around a bit with the Italian title and the software does make learning another language a lot easier and more fun than what I remember from those Spanish classes in high school.
