I've never used one of these. I always use the in-game browser, but BF2's sucks. Would this one be faster?

I've found standalone game browsers to be much faster, and have many more options than any in-game browser I've seen. This one allows you to specify how much of your broadband connection to devote to downloading server lists. Refreshing a server list on a busy night can take more than a minute for some games, this software can usually reduce that to less than 15 seconds or so...

Do your friends also have to be using this program for you to see them ingame like xfire? Or is it like ASE and you can see them if they are just playing the game?

All this does is query public game servers, so it's not necessary for your friends to have this installed in order for you to see them and flag them as buddies.

afaik bf2 does not support command line parameter for connecting directly to a server... so you gotta cut and paste the ip anyway inside the game (which sucks).

please correct me if i'm wrong, because i would also like to use a standalone server browser instead of the pos built-in interface.

If "bf2" = BattleField 2, it is indeed listed as "supported" by KQuery4.

BF2 1.02 patch is out now. 1.01 enabled 3rd party browser support (joining servers from command line), but caused a memory leak in some servers. 1.02 patched the memory leak.

Bottom line is that with 1.02 xfire, ASE, etc... works great with BF2 now.
