I think I've figured out RocketBoard's deal. Below is an excerpt from the Rocket board privacy policy. They are using the board to spy on you. What a scam!!! This is like something out of a James Bond flick! Big Rocket is watching.

When you install your RocketBoard driver software, you will be assigned a unique global user identification number (GUID). This number along with your IP address is used to help identify you and your browsing habits and to gather broad demographic information.

Has anyone had to install the "driver software"? Does it work without the driver? Can someone with a sniffer check out what this board is sending out, and to whom?

This concept is so kewl I can barely stand it. Maybe some of the boards have microphones or those mini-tv camera's in them. The kind you see advertised in all the banner adds with the grinning hot chick.

I think its time for my medication.

Ooops. I see this has already been discussed in another thread.
Whew! I only need the blue pills.

Well they somehow identify because your keys will make you connect to their website and then pick whatever site you want to assign to them.

I just hacked the registry and assigned a url to each key. Was pretty simple really! Anyone know how to make the keys launch programs and not websites?

Btw, its exactly the same keyboard as the one someone mentioned earlier. It has model K360 on the bottom of it 🙂

Is it ps2, old style large plug, or usb?

From the order page it would appear to be DIN or Mini-DIN, not USB or serial.
Hey! - For free, order it and if you don't like it give it to a needy friend!!

to clarify things for ppl w/o one yet,

The keyboard is PS/2 style, with an AT adapter, the buttons on top take you to specified URL's as per the drivers. They way it works is these sites pay rocketboard for hits. Apparently, you can remap them to whatever sites you want, but I prefer to use it driverless as just a generic 104 keyboard.

Zordak: I think there's a program for the rocketboard instead of the drivers that come with it which will probably do it....when I get the KB I'll figure out how to make it launch programs.

I have an order that was supposed to be shipped June 12, haven't got it, doesn't say shipped on the page. And I have a couple that were supposed to ship July 6, but they weren't.

Everyone is paying for shipping right?

Do they charge your credit card before you receive the merchandise?

You are correct, shipping is free.

I was thrown by the pop-up window that said shipping was $4.95 via US Mail. That charge was not applied upon checkout.

Thanks,rnmcd

Signed up at 4:12 Pacific time. Recieved confirmation. Hopefully I get one of them. They supposedly will be sent out on September somthing for me...-lol-...But hey it's FREE.
