"Free" ISP...

Hello folks,

I have been connected with a local ISP in my area for a some months already. Ever since, I have been charged only once on my Credit Card. Here's the story: I was connected with another, bigger ISP in my area and they have limited their DSL connection with a ridiculous montly ratio of 5G/month. So, that's why I decided to go with another, unlimited ISP in my area. I told the new ISP to connect me on a precise date. They haven't done what I told them and connected me before the date. So, for doing this, they told me my next month would be free. Being happy with that, I accepted. And you know what happened, they haven't charged me since that day.

I've called them 1 or 2 months ago to tell them: "It's been some months since you haven't charged me, could you fix that please?" But, even after that call, they haven't donce anything and I still don't pay anything. Before having a bill of a thousand bucks, I was wondering if someone could tell me what he/she would do in my situation? Should I call them again or it's their problem now?

Thank you

I would call them again. But I would also start putting aside the money that they would be getting every month so if they do ask for it you can give it to them easily.

Keep records of all your correspondence with the ISP. They might come back later and try to charge you a hefty interest (very unethical in this circumstance but not all businesses play fair). Keep a log of all your phone calls, any e-mails, letters or anything that can be used as an evidence that you have made reasonable attempts to notify the ISP about not billing for the service.

I work for an ISP and in some cases we've stopped billings someones account and come back and notice it a few months later. At that time we send them a bill for the total amount due. We're usually nice and make it for like half of the months they didn't get billed for, but we do bill them and I think many isp's would bill for the full ammount. If unpaid your account is turned off and you're turned over to collections. I'd either save my money or call for another reminder.

Hello,

I have followed what most of you told me, to give them another call. Could I have been sued for fraud or something if I hadn't warned them?

Thank you
