thats the thing...people are all at work at the same time about once a quarter for a meeting for the field techs. i havent been to the office in over a week, ive been travelling in the opposite direction every day. i live probably 40 minutes from the office and get a schedule emailed to me every night, so...i dont really go there unless i happen to pass through that town on the way to a site.

well shit, i talked to a friend of mine at the company and he said theres a rumor that they are developing an ipad app.

its a company that does it services/consulting and has 3 or 4 small custom apps they develop for some area businesses. i cant imagine why the fuck they would need an ipad, tech meeting is on the 16th of january so maybe ill find out.

Why not use it? Granted I'm not the world's greatest Apple fan, but the iPad is light years ahead of any Android POS tablet.

anand seemed to think its a pretty nice device, considering. its definitely got better hardware than the ipad. i dont hate the idea of using the ipad, id just prefer to use android over ios. i have all the android apps i want for things, i dont want to pay for more at this point or hunt down apps, ive done that once, so using a new os is just not convenient.

as an aside, is there an ios equivalent to swype? thats a killer feature for me on android. i want a tablet to replace paper, but i cant do that without swype (which my well out of date nook color cant use)

Every Android tablet I've had has had better hardware (bar maybe the screen in some cases) than the comparable iPad. Yet as a useful tablet experience, the iPad does leave it in the dust.

By that I'm not saying I think a tablet is better or useful as a truly mobile computer - I don't, unless a netbook is all you can afford in which case yes it is better - but an Android tablet at the moment is truly like shooting yourself in both feet IMO.

It's a bit like going out to buy a Mazda Miata, and then picking the one which has wooden wheels which falls off every now and gain for no reason, and you can only fill it up in 1 out of every 50 gas stations - because it has a slightly more powerful engine.

Have you used Swype on a *tablet*?

Personally, I think selling it is just asking for problems. What happens when your manager holds a meeting and excitedly tells everyone to bring their iPads to take notes?

/true story

Enjoy your gift, even if it would have been your first choice.

no, but id like to, is it broken? video demos ive seen made it look like it works fine, and i *love* it on my phone. i can one handed type with ease and its pretty quick. i hate even touch typing on the nook color i have, and its a small tablet (and i have a thumb keyboard for it and its still annoying)
