Here's a little secret I've learned over the years. This forum has given me so much so I feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I finally post a deal. Go to your local Carl's Jr and tell them you go to the local high school or university. Tell them you are having a conference, program, meeting....something on those lines and that you'll need ice. If you bring a cooler with you they'll be more than happy to fill it up for you. I've saved a lot of money on ice over the years for parties. Enjoy
 
Just as a heads-up, what you are proposing is basically being dishonest to get something for free, which is generally looked down upon here. However, if you actually ARE having a conference or something like that AND go to the high school or university, it's a good tip.
 
MacD's do the same - if you are a customer. By a happy meal for the kids, put up with their hyperactivity for the party, and MaccieD's will allow you to fill from their massive behind-the-scenes icemaker. Be nice to them though . . . . it is at manager's discretion!
 
It's a nice deal if you are having a conference or something. I have an icemaker now. I hated living in my old apartment. Stupid Ice Trays.
 
dont like all fridges come with icemakers nowadays? my icemaker takes up like a whole shelf in my freezer. dad always complains it's a waste of space. + the ice is made from filtered water.

Actually they say because a large number of these icemaker machines are never cleaned out very well that bacteria gets in the ice and causes people to get sick. Ice machines are the major cause of sickness that people get from restaurants. Some of them are actually starting to clean their icemaking machines out with bleach periodically to eliminate the growth of bacteria. So the next time you order a drink from a fast food place you might consider asking for no ice.
 
don't abuse the system...........that ice is for teacher and stuff..........blah....blah blah........u know the rest.......

It can be dirt, or it can be something worst.
 
Much easier to pull into any Motel. Chance are the ice maker is unguarded and in an easily accessible location. Fill'er up. 😀
