Free Guild Wars Global Free-For-All PvP Weekend Event

Cool. I noticed theres now a pvp arena where you start capped at level 20. I just tried it out last night. Fun stuff. This game is so much better than WoW, its actually fun, hehe.
Oh yeah , and its free. Got if for $30 to.

I'm still a GW n00b... to take part, do I need to buy Guild Wars: Factions or can I use this with the standard GW license?

It says if you have gw already your good to go. You can try the factions characters out. The assasin and ritualist.

WoW and Guild Wars are 2 completely different genre of games. It's like comparing counter strike and everquest. GW isn't MMO, and it will never be, while WoW is strictly MMO. GW is probably the only game in its genre right now, and is focused not on the story mode missions, but the team vs team PvP at its end game, which is closer to games like counter strike or BF2, but instead is RP based. If you haven't played GW for at least 3 months and get to rank 6, you cannot judge its real content since there are more strategies in the PvP content of this game than any other similar games.

Agreed... schififty five doesnt know what hes talking about in his summation.

2 totally different games. If you are more interested in pvp with a level playing field, where skill and strategy mean more than a "super high level character", then guild wars is for you. Its designed so a player who only played it for 100 hours can beat a player who played for 500 hours.

Actually I do know what I'm talking about. I played WoW for 8 months and I am playing GW right now.

Yes I realize GW is NOT an MMORPG but what I mentioned still stands. Just b/c GW isn't an MMORPG doesn't mean I can't compare certain features that a "computer game" would have. Both are computer games right? GW had better graphics. WoW's interface is better. What's so hard to understand about that?

The assasin seems to be to damn powerful. I was playing last night and didnt know you could use them already and was getting slayed. Then someone told me they were the assasin.
****** they need to correct that ******.

And on the WoW vs GW thing. I played WoW for about 1 month and tried to get into it. I liked the graphics so its not really about graphics. It just seemed like I was playing just to level up
and thats what I found uninteresting about it. Guild focuses on battles and kicking ass. Although leveling up is part of it I just have more fun with it.

Yeah, the fact that you dont have to pay monthly to play it is a HUGE factor when I decided to buy it. I havent played in months, but it is a great game in story mode. 🙂

3 Level 20's here. 🙂

Hey everyone I am about to get GW because I hear good things and hate the thought of paying the 15 quid a month. 🙂

Could you guys please explain why it's not a MMORPG? I'm new to the MMO thing. I played CoH and that was rad. I just didn't want to pay the $15/mo and saw that GW seemed pretty cool w/o it. So I'll get GW I guess.

So is it more like BF2 or WoW? I realize that the games are very different but I was wondering why it isn't an MMO.

Sorry for the spastic sentence structure and order but I'm tired and thanks for your help.

Gw plays kinda like Diablo 2. Fighting is done in instances, where as WOW is live. Overall GW is a good game with no monthly fee. A xpack is supposed to be coming out for it soon which should make it even a better game.

Well GW is live but its not like wow where your traveling the country side and you'll come across other players and if you wanted chat and whatnot. In guild once you enter mission you and whoever is in
your party thats who you can interact with and thats it. Of course when your not questing or pvp battle arena you can chat and trade with everybody. I find it to be just fine. And it does beats paying $15
for a subpar game.
