free & good encryption proggie?

pgp has a freeware version for windows.

depends on what OS ans what application you want to use it with.

my understanding was that the source for pgp for windows wasn't open for inspection to see if it really was secure., well at least the comments on download.com indicated that.

PGP 8 0wnz j00. It's complete overkill for most requirements ... PGP = Pretty Goddamn Paranoid.

Abi-Coder is an incredible encrypter, up to 448bit blowfish encryption. It looks like they are charging for it now but if you look around you can get a previous version of it for free (legally).
