GameTZ - The Game Trading Zone

The reason this is posted as a Hot Deal is because a few years back, this site cost money on a monthly subscription basis, and it was a good deal then. Now, it accepts donations, but is free to use all features.

Basically, you can buy and trade three ways:

1. List all the items you have for trade, as well as what you want, and the system will show you your matches. There is even an eBay-like rating system.

2. Search through what others have listed, you can send an offer for cash or trade.

3. Search the posts (or post a Want ad) in the forums section. These forums are lively and there is a big crowd of regulars, so expect responses quick!


One great added feature is the ultra-frequently updated topic, Find of the Week. There, you can brag about what you are finding in the feild, but more importantly, keep your finger on the pulse of what is in demand and where you might find it.

I recommend this to anyone, it takes a little while to list everything you have and want, but after that, you are off to the races. Best of luck!

GameTZ has been around forever as OP said and was the best trading site from the beginning. Was free originally then tried to go pay and is now free again. Not just for games, you can trade any kind of media there (DVDs, CDs,books, etc.).
Nice matchmaking area to see who has what you want and vice-versa.

The downside to this is how it hurts the game industry, reducing the revenue for making more and better games.

I tend to only buy new games, and not resale them, even though it costs a lot more. I know, it's good for the consumer in the short term (the harm being fewer good games made).

Not meant to criticize the OP at all, just something to think about in picking to buy new or trade.

There is a feedback system, so you can trade with people who have good feedback. If they are new, have them send first. I've always had good luck, but nothing is foolproof. If you buy items, it's as safe as eBay, I guess, paying with PayPal.

Interesting point, but you could also argue that, while missing out on that purchase, the 2nd-hand consumer is getting exposure to a franchise that they might then patronize frequently. Case in point, I got Zelda for N64 used for $5, and got so hooked on the series that I have preorded all subsiquent titles at full retain, including guides.

Each site has it's pro's and con's for sure, but for free, it doesn't hurt to be a member at all the good sites. I've secured half of my collection on GameTZ, but there is also DigitPress (forums and price guides), and specialized sites like NESWorld.
