Free floppies at Staples - YMMV

Hey all,
I was at Staples the other day, and there was a box full of floppies at the shipping counter with a "Free" sign on them. Instead of standard labels, all the floppies had "$5 free" stickers on them. I asked the lady behind the counter what was up, and she said that they get those floppies all the time, and there are always a ton of leftovers at the end of the month. I took about 50 home, and they're already formatted for IBM-compatibles.

I don't know if this is typical of all Staples stores or not, but it couldn't hurt to ask the person behind the counter next time you're at the copy center 😉

don't guess this one will be available on-line 😀

nice find...too bad Staples is far from me 🙂 ahh well...I'll keep on keepin' on @ OD 🙂

I was thinkin' a floppy was a bad thing. At least that's what the women say. I try to go with the Hard Drive as much as possible.:Q

What they are is a floppy disk with a $5 coupon for the copy center. What it does is it waives the $5 surcharge of printing things off the floppy. They usually have a few set out at the cash registers and a few at copy center. They may also have some in back of the copy center as well. Ask copy center for them and not the cashiers, they wouldn't have any over there other than the ones over at the cash registers. But yeah they are free, but I don't know what they would think of you bringing 50 of them home though 🙂. I couldn'g go through taking more than 2 or 3.

I have so many FLoppy Disks laying around, I'd give them away free too. What do you need one for? Most files cant' fit on a disk anyway these days...

Heh... I grabbed a big ol' handful. At least 25. I went there today to ship something, and there's at least 200 more sitting there.

Still need 'em for boot disks, Ghost disks, and loading Linksys network card drivers on new systems...

WTH is wrong with you?!? Load 'em up! I used to order floppies by the 100's from AOL for that "for a friend" thing. ( before they went to CD's ) I will soon have enough to shingle my house.
