I had kpf - functioned fairly well, but would sometimes crash when I tried to view the various connections. Wanted to try One Care, so I'm back to Windows Firewall.

Kerio Personal Firewall v2.15 (it's an older version, but not as resource heavy as the newer versions)

I've tried Kerio and Sygate, and I wasn't impressed. Kerio gave me DSO exploits instantly, and Sygate would crap out during a session leaving me wide open.

Zone Alarm is simple, it is free, and it passes every firewall test there is. The install is smooth, and unlike the other freebies, it actually interacts with XP-SP2's Security Centre and it turns off Windows Firewall for you.

zone alarm is pretty good so far. my norton expired so i finally gave it a chance. its much less bloated, but it doesn't have nice things like ad blocking.

The Windows SP2 one. I don't see why you should bother with anything else. It is not like using another helps security at all.

The bad thing about SP2 is it does not check outgoing only incoming. If you have spyware, it can send information without XP doing anything.

Well I prefer the firewall from WinXP SP2 that and my router.
