Hey all, www.vqfoundation.org is doing a cool program.

Submit questions to Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web! They will then be doing a live Q&A Session with him on November 17th. This is really cool. The Q&A Session is being streamed over the web, broadcast to 550 schools across the country, and is going to (hopefully) rebroadcast on public television!
If you submit a question not only will you get your name forever archived next to Tim Berners-Lee, they will send you a free gift / Embroidered shirt if the question is used; so think up good questions!

NOTE: Dont forget to put your name/address in the question if you want the free gift. It is not posted on the page, but they will follow through <I am helping out with ordering the shirts and a ton were just ordered>

Note: Not just for students & shirt size is XL.

Umm...... does this mean that Al Gore didnt invent the internet?

Hmm, maybe that will be my question, Why are you goin' around saying you invented Al Gore's internet :| 😉

LOL @ Slacker
BTW anyone else notice the first 3 letters of the domain are VQF as in the yamaha mp3 competitor music compression format. Well I've already asked my question 🙂

I just sent in a question also. Now will someone tell me how they plan on giving us our shirts when they didnt take down any info such as address? Not even an E-mail...???

""they will send you a free gift / Embroidered shirt if the question is used"

Many will enter, few will win.

Hey mav+all,
this is still active -- I just checked and even though lots of pepole clicked through to the site after this was posted, not many questions were submitted -- and even less of those were usable. (Pps. for the many people who want to ask tim if Gore invented the internet, I dont think we can ask him that.. though we may try to ask him if he is sick of hearing about that 🙂

Um folks, the World Wide Web and the Internet are not synonymous. The World Wide Web is one of the numerous services that operate on the Internet. So theoretically those of us who don't know any better can still believe Al Gore. 🙂

Sitzman:

Yeah, how come here you said ANY question will get a shirt, but on FW you said that any USED question will get a shirt?

What part don't you people understand? Al Gore NEVER said he invented the World Wide Web. His quote had to do with the INTERNET - which is not the World Wide Web

You know, words get twisted around all the time. That is true, he said he had some part in the invention of the internet.

If we are going to get technical I think he said created and not invented, although there is a bit of a fuzzy line there between the implication either way.

Everyone knows Anandtech invented the internet anyway.

I understand the difference between the internet and the world wide web and let me tell you Al Gore didn't invent S#!T........

I'm too lazy to think of a good question, so if any of y'all win make sure to post your question since my school doesn't get the broadcast anyway.
