FREE eBooks!

Free eBooks
Free eBooks in MS Reader format
Project Gutenberg free eBooks
Index of FREE digital Libraries

There are THOUSANDS of free ebooks out there that you can get legitimately and at no charge. Some are in text format, but you can easily turn those into a more useable format with the FREE Microsoft Reader Converter for Word or the free PDFCreator at Sourceforge.net.

I stumbled across these while searching for goodies for the new PocketPC I bought. So far I have to say I like the Microsoft Reader MUCH better than the Adobe Reader on PocketPC. MUCH friendlier, and MUCH easier to keep track of what you've read and where you need to pick it back up! 🙂

Hope you enjoy!

while we are on the subject of works in the public domain....

check out Archive.org
really cool site with lots of free (older, yet some good) movies, audio, software, etc...
they even have all 617 episodes of the Computer Chronicles!

The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit that was founded to build an ?Internet library,? with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages in our collections.

Dont forget, if you like Baen books (mostly sci-fi and fantasy such as David Weber's Honor series)
http://www.baen.com/library/defaultTitles.htm
A bunch of free titles in a variety of formats including text. Pretty much all 1st of series books, and some others as well.

As well, if you search around, you can find bit torrents of Baen CD's they include in some of thier later hardcover books that have a ton more additional titles. On the CD itself when you get it, it says its free to distribute and give away.

Oh also, there was a DVD of gutenberg's complete collection that I came across last year. I think it was emule or bit torrent for that as well. I love the idea of gutenberg, putting up for free d/l books whose copyright is expired.
