If you go to http://www.redalert3.com on Sunday, you can download your very own copy of the original Red Alert, absolutely free.

If you pre-order RE3 from the site you can get a free copy of Red Alert 2, plus some extra RE3 goodies including desktop wallpapers (featuring Atkinson, McCarthy, Hu, et al) an series retrospective and an exclusive multiplayer map.

:)

Thanks OP.
Not my favorite type of games, but free is a very good price :)

The download page says that you may have to mess with it to run under Vista. Good thing I still run XP :p

Lots of these old games are still fun when the mood strikes you. Free is good, nice legal iso's even better.

For the Vista users, like myself - this is what I did to get this great freebie to work:

1. Extract the downloaded .rar to a folder and mount the ISO image in Alcohol 52%.
2. Open the disk on the mounted drive and find SETUP.EXE and apply Windows95 compatibility
to that file.
3. Click and run SETUP.EXE - install the game to the default directory - skip
the directx install and the westwood program - and allow the install to finish.
4. Reopen the folder you extracted the .rar to and find the XP_Patch folder - open
it and double-click on the RA108USP.EXE to extract three files named PATCH.
5. Copy the three files to WESTWOOD\REDALERT folder and then click on
PATCH.EXE..
6. Last - apply Win95 compatibility to the RA95.EXE in this folder...
7. Play the Game.
