Free Download of "Panda Antivirus Platinum 7" [PLEASE LOCK]

They say you have to remove any other virus programs before installing theirs. Are they serious? A very problematic limitation I would say!
Any antivirus programs will tell you that, including Norton and Symantec. It's not a good idea to install 2 antivirus simultaneously.
You can always download the file then scan it with your current AV software (or antivirus.com free online scan) to make sure it's safe.
This is a promo they run from time to time (or maybe always?) and I've used it in the past until my one year was over (previous version of course, not Platinum 7)

Just my 2 cents, but we use panda at work, and I think it is OK, but for home use, pick up AVG Free Edition D/L HERE, which is AWAYS free.
FYI, Panda can really bog down Outlook if you get a lot of e-mail (I get 1500-2000 daily) and don't leave Outlook on all the time. I turned my computer off NYEve, and on the 5th, it took 5 hours to get all my e-mail. At that point, I gave up, turned off Panda, downloaded my mail (25 minutes), restarted Panda and scanned. I wish this was a one-time occurrance, but it's SOP w/ Panda. Havn't tried other AV programs at the office, might not be Panda's fault, just a real hassel for me.

I have used Panda for 2 years now on all the family pc's. Nothing but good things to say about the software. I have always used the Titanium because its perfect for "fire and forget". I recently bought the new Platinum with the built in firewall for my dear old momma's pc so she could stop running and AV and a seperate firewall program.
No problems so far. Simple and seems to be as compatible with everything as the Titanium. I don't think the Platinum engine scans quite as fast as the Titanium, but, that is just how it "feels". The Titanium is the fastest system scan I have tried.

I will try this on my small computer to see how it works. I have little information on this antivirus program. I have a guy at work that thinks it is great and another that says it slows the computer too much. Comments on here about slows outlook down quite a bit. Guess I will find out.
By the way I have a friend that never listens to me and always installs similar programs and they walk all over each other. antivirus programs like to do that, I shut one down if I am trying another in my main system. My friend always leaves both on and pays for it after as it screws up his system. He is a programmer and a stubborn one at that. We are all still learning except for him ha ha. I reload his system for him about once every six months because of bonehead moves like operating two antivirus programs at once or two firewalls at once. So at least shut down one while trying another this is a given..

Has anyone had success getting this to work with Mozilla Firebird? I ran a virus test (don't have the URL on me now) and Panda didn't complain about any of my e-mail, though of course it didn't let me execute a VBS file.
I received a free offer for Panda Platinum Version 7 around 6 months ago and have been using it ever since. The reason I tried it was because I was relying on Trend Micro Housecall for a few years and when I noticed a problem with my computer which smelled like "hacker stench" I decided to try Panda's online virus scanner instead of Housecall. It picked up two very serious virus/trojans which had been on my computer for sometime and which Housecall had never detected.
A few observations about Panda Platinum:
1. It really slowed the computer down so I disabled "automatic update" and now I update manually.
2. You can't read the writing when you open the software unless you have 32 bit color enabled. Panda tech support couldn't figure that one out. I had to figure it out for myself.
3. The virus scanner will lock up your system before it completes unless you disable wallpaper and reduce the number of tasks running. I have a PIII 1000 with 512MB Ram.
4. It won't function properly if you decide not to use their firewall. Their firewall really slows your system down. Zone Alarm does not.
5. Their server is never jammed up so updates are guaranteed to install properly whenever you choose. They even have updates on weekends. The updates average between 6 and 17 signature updates per day.
6. The free license is for one year.
7. To date it has only detected and removed one virus.

Another very happy AVG user. Less frills, just works and is very unobtrusive. Haven't had to disable it for any reason yet.
I have to agree. AVG's footprint is really tiny. I had been running Norton AV, that has to be the most invasive proggy I have ever used. There were litterally hundreds of registry entries and it was doing something all the time.
No, AVG doesn't have a firewall. Buy a router and let that do the job for you. This is an antivirus solution as the topic suggests.
