Free DirectTV system (with activation)... Is this a good deal?

Saw this at one of the deal sites. If you go down to the terms and conditions you see that you have to activate it within 30 days or they charge you $300.

So, how much is DirectTV? Do you have to get a certain plan?

The cheapest plan you could probably go for is about $21.99 month. That's most all cable channels, but no premium movie channels like HBO, etc. The only complaint I have is no VH1. They actually have some music on that channel still, esp. a lot of good specials/concerts.

No VH1? At home we have a RCA DSS dish w/ DirecTV system and we get VH1. Maybe you are using the Dish Network?

Well, I am a DirecTV employee. We have a plan where we can offer the system (a free dish, receiver and installation) for only $24.95 plus tax. The $$ is just to ship the receiver and dish to you. The only obligations are that you activate the service within thirty days and subscribe to the $31.99 package for one month.
