Full Story

Consumers in some parts of the United States will be entitled to one free credit report each year beginning Dec. 1, using a Web site called AnnualCreditReport.com, the nation's credit bureaus announced Tuesday.....The free annual credit checkups were mandated by the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, signed into law last December by President Bush. The law includes a number of provisions designed to fend off identity theft, which hits millions of U.S. consumers each year.

I had problems with it earlier today... maybe I'll try again.

Must be lots of traffic. I wouldn't be surprised.

Failed again. There was an article on MSNBC about the heavy traffic causing problems. I'll just try again later.

But some consumers told MSNBC.com that attempts to get their reports stalled as they were redirected to the individual bureaus' sites, and they received error messages. MSNBC.com employees experienced the same trouble attempting to obtain credit reports from Trans Union and Experian. Equifax reports were available.

Oh, and I used Equifax. Hope that helps out those of you who are trying!

I tried getting my report from Equifax and Experian a couple of months ago and their stupid security questions baffled me...hehehe....I found Transunion to be alot more user friendly. Good luck all, I will be trying this tonight when I get home.

PS: I thought no one was interested on this topic yesterday when I posted it, to my surprise I saw it on the main page right now so I had to post.

WTF, I have to wait 9 MONTHS to get mine? That blows.

Edit: I'm pretty sure New Jersey law requires them to give me one free report per year, but I have no idea how to obtain it.
