Free credit report and FICO score from myFICO

Every US citizen is entitled to see all 3 of their credit reports once per year for free, without having to enter any credit card info. The new 'wall street reform' that just passed adds that you now also get your credit score free once per year too, but I haven't seen that yet. It probably hasn't been implimented yet.

Most of these sites like the OP posted require that you sign up for program that has a recurring charge but that supposedly can be canceled within X days for no charge, thereby providing the 'free credit report'. Checking the internets you find that most of these so called 'programs' are very hard if not impossible to cancel and you will incurr charges to your CC that you have to fight to get removed.

So....To obtain the free credit report that you are entitled to under federal law, without having to sign up for any program or provide any credit card info at all, go to

http://www.annualcreditreport.com

There, you can get your credit report from all three credit reporting agencies — Experian, Equifax and TransUnion — once every 12 months, for free.

You don't get your FICO score at that site, though. But it is still a good resource to get free credit reports.

Apparently I was wrong before. There is no 'free fico score once per year'. What was added in the 'wall street reform' bill was the ability to get your fico score for free 'if you were rejected for a job or denied a loan.' You could always get your credit report after that, but now you get the fico score too.

As an aside....my Sears credit card has a perk where I can view my fico score online for free. Horrible interest rate, but at least there's no annual fee. 🙂

Nice! I'd keep the card at 0 balance just for that!
