Retailers are going to be pissed. I've seen them for sale from anywhere from $19.99 to $85.00
Here's the cheapest ones.
$7.99 at Target (1 test).
$9.99 at Walgreens

Kits with 19 test at $23.99.

I stumbled across mention of this earlier today and was able to sign up as well.

Won't be holding my breath till they arrive! :p
On the news tonight they repeatedly said that people who signed up today should have their test kits sent out in 7-12 days.
More tests means more cases.

Test less.
We had a certain president who liked this strategy (dumbass son of a bitch).

Blue cross and blue shield will pay for 8 tests per person per month. Email came today. Costco has 5 for 48.00.

Appreciate this link - I'd prefer to have been able to purchase from a pharmacy to get the coverage right away but I can go ahead and submit for reimbursement with this (its been almost impossible to find tests).

Why? Most insurance companies are now required to cover the retail cost 100%. So, there is no reason not to buy them from a store (other than lack of availability).

Just think, what an opportunity Trump missed. He could have distributed free masks with MAGA printed on them in red.

Medicare does NOT cover the cost of at home test kits.

Yes, effective 1/15/22 most insurance companies are required to cover the cost. How many hoops must one jump through to submit a claim, which I guess would require submitting proof of purchase. What allowances would all the different companies have. Would deductibles or co-pays apply.

When is the last time you submitted for reimbursement from an insurance company?

Personally, I'd call my HMO (Medicare Advantage plan), don't know if I'd get a straight answer, but instead of the 8 tests they'd reimburse (hmm, maybe) I just did the USPS 4 free test thing yesterday. I have yet to be tested for covid-19. I suppose I'll get it, they're saying most everybody will eventually, but I may never know. The next 3 years are going to be who knows what?

Partly true. Medicare provides free at-home tests, but you either need to (A) get it at an approved location (a community health center or a Medicare certified clinic) or (B) get a doctor's order for the test.

I don't use much medical services yet (knock on wood). The last time that I submitted for reimbursement was when getting drugs and vaccines for international travel about 3 years ago from a travel clinic that doesn't accept insurance. Yes, there is a form to fill out and yes some people might find it not worth the effort.

I'm impressed... a government run website that didn't crumble under a heavy load? Wow!

The original Obamacare site admins must have learned from their previous mistakes!

Got the free N95s w/valves today at Sam's Club and the 4 test kits came in the mail today. Test kits say results in 20 minutes. We're good to go!

Got my two boxes of 2 tests each today in the US mail.

So, I call my local Walgreens to see if I can go in and get my 3 free N95s. Manage to get a person on the line and they don't have masks, don't know if and when they will have them, she says go to the "government website." I search free N95 masks and get a news story by local TV station on N95 freebies made today and they say they can't find local pharmacies that have them, advise you to call your local pharmacies. Whooptie doo.
