I actually have a subscription to this site, their tech reviews are interesting, and I always spent 2X what I'd like to on appliances based on their recommendations, but they know their stuff. They're one of the few companies that make money from their web site.

Here's a little more direct link:

Sweet deal! Thanks for the info. I've been looking to get some items for the house/yard and now I can research and make sure I buy the best!

I had a subscription for a year, and ended up with a top-of-the-line refrigerator and dishwasher that were recommended. Well worth not having to run down to the bookstore to check out each issue or to the library to photocopy. This is an excellent find, thanks!

Another top site to start with is http://www.consumersearch.com/www/ which links to reviews in descending order of relevance (e.g., for a DVD player, Sound and Vision Mag's review would be listed first and epinions and amazon.com reviews last).

An FYI - from Consumer Reports: the best advance in dishwasher technology for the last couple of years is the enzyme-based dish detergents. Made such a difference that they went back & retested and re-rated all their dishwasher ratings.

The power of these various deal forums is amazing...This website is getting slammed by people downloading the whole site to thier hard drive...its a shame too because they are non-profit and do some good work

Oh well no mercy!!!

Only the strong shall survive!!!

At first I assumed they were running on Windows IIS and, of course, that was the bottleneck. Nope, it's Netscape-Enterprise/3.6 SP2 on Solaris so they must be getting hammered.

Hmm, good that they're upgrading. I had sub 2 years ago and the site was so slow that it was unusable.
