FREE CD Burner software

I found this over at CDBurnerXP's website while I was searching around for freeware to include in my WinXP SP2 Unattended Install a couple of weeks back. It's light, fast, very easy to use and supports, so far, everything Nero does but without the bloated nonsense that comes with Nero these days.

Additionally the new 3.5 version that's coming up is totally written in .Net and will sport an install source footprint of only 5MB! Current size is around 11MB, but either of these is a fraction of Nero's 28.8MB core installer.

Anyway, hope you enjoy. I've tested this with a number of scenarios (bootable CD's, ISO's, compilations, Music CD's, MP3 CD's, etc.) and it definitely gets my stamp of approval. Plus it's free!! :)

From their download page:

Burning ISO Images is limited to 4,2GB

Since I often burn DVDs from ISOs created by DVDShrink I think I'll wait for the next version to see if it can burn a whole movie.

The best program for burning DVD .iso files is DVDDecrypter -- which is also free. Much, much faster than Nero to get started, and more reliable as well.

Glad to see a warm reception :) I was so surprised by how good this thing has turned out to be that I figured I would let folks know, in case they don't. Sometimes it's easy to get caught in the hussle and hurry of finding an app that meets your needs and you miss freebies like this. I'm very excited about the forthcoming revised version as well, but I can't report that I've had a single error with this one in the 2 weeks or so I've been using it (and I use it a LOT at work :)

Anyway, hopefully this one will stay on the radar for folks. A nice FREE CD Burner that smokes that you can recommend in good conscience to friends and family who maybe can't spend a bunch of money.

Thanks to the authors of the software!

For those that want a free burning solution for DVDShrink, try dvd decrypter, www.dvddecrypter.com which is a free (tho not open source) app for DVD ripping and burning.

Another free burner to consider is DeepBurner. I've been using it without problems since Nero quit on me (Nero came bundled with my CDRW, and refuses to work with the new DVD burner I purchased)

I've been using this for a while. Very good software for most burning you'll do.

Yeah, I go to that thread quite alot when I'm looking for free alternatives to common programs. That thread is quite useful.
