Copied verbatim from another board, and 'Vernon'

Freecar.com is now accepting applications to qualified drivers for free cars that are covered with advertisements. Drivers are responsible for insurance, gas and maintenance.

There are 7 pages of info you have to provide, but it actually goes pretty quick. It's probobly just a scam to get you to give up your first born, but it may come through. I wouldn't mind driving around in a free P/T Cruiser.

7. Can I keep my own automobile insurance?
If you use one of our vehicles, the only way we can be absolutely certain that all our cars are properly and currently insured is to require you to purchase insurance through us.

This has been around for a couple years now, always popping it's ugly head back up.

My advice is to ignore this junk.

I agree- ignore it. I signed up for a couple different things like this over a year ago and never heard. Probably go belly-up like all these free ISPs.

i know there's a company in toronto canada that does this -- my brother has his minivan covered with ads and they pay him 500 bux a month -- they just paint your car and pay you -- they don't actually give you a car -- i dunno if this place you're talking about is legit, but it definitely does exist

i think thats a different deal, some of them just give you a card and others pay you to put ads on your current card...

If you are one of the people to get one, they do give you a free car. Its covered with ads, you may have seen it around. But the supply is very limited (everyone wants a free car) so you probably won't get one. So all that info your giving, is being sold to the highest bidder.

The website looks pretty legitimate, but the chances of getting a car are minimal at best. Basically they just ask how much you drive, how visible your car is at night and during the day, where you park it etc. They also have a service like the one that Jeff (CouponCollect) mentioned, but their primary business is free cars. More than likely, this is a hot deal ;)

I actually saw a couple of these "advertisement" cars driving in the Bay Area. I saw a minivan, a new VW bug, and what looks to be a Ford Escort but I can't really tell since the entire thing was covered with ads. They probably do in fact give out cars but your chances of getting them are probably as good as your chances of actually winning one in a sweepstakes :D

ROTFLMAO:D

By the way Clark Howard talks about these companies and says they are legit. But it is hard to qualify. They are looking for people who put a lot of miles and population densities etc. The advertisers want maximum exposure. The last that I heard it is down to two places freecar and the other wraps your car and pays you monthly rent for the space. I don't remember the name of the company that wraps your car though.

If they'll give a free BMW 5-series or Mercedes 600, they can put anything they want on the car, I would really care less :)

I remember back in the late 70's one of my cousins drove around in a Green VW Bug with a big "Marlboro" ad painted over it. Back then I thought it was cool.

Looking back on it I don't think it's all that cool anymore. You might as well paint a big "White Trash" sign on your car.

ANYBODY GET IN ON THE DAEWOO THING??? I had a brand new car for 6 months for free. Insurance included. This was DAEWOO's way of advertising their cars. I think it was pretty successful. All I know is that every weekend was a ROAD TRIP for me. That was so fun.....like having a rental for 6 months without the ads like this deal.

Here's the other Free Car site.

(Well, not free car, you use your own, get that new plasticated wrap stuff on it, and you get paid... plus I think I remember back when I read this site a few months ago you could use your own insurance <since it's your car anyway>.)
