We had the direct tv man come to install today. We were told that we can not get direct tv because our trees block the satellite. The man did however hook up the old cable that the previous owners had. (edit: we just moved in). the reception is only in the family room. I can not get it in the bedroom. Is it the axis cable I hooked up to the tv in the bedroom?

most likely you'll get billed if the cable guy hooked it up...

billed how? it was direct TV. if they bill you for hooking up Cable then you can beat it in court or such.

cable won't bill you since it was not their guy.

cable company will come around shortly to disconnect it.

Depends on how long ago the cable was disconnected. One apartment I had had basic cable turned on, turned out the last time there was an account active was something like 4years ago. They have to come out and physically disconnect the cable on the pole so if it's been a while it might have fallen through the cracks.

My uncle had free cable for 13 years before they realized it. I think the only reason he got cut off was because they were upgrading their equipment.
