yeah, i just saw it on the news.

this is as a result of the long, city-wide bus strike in L.A. which was just settled. all passengers get free bus rides for 5 days, which ends on Sunday night.

i wonder if i can pricematch this to my city's bus system. and maybe rebate too!

I would have fired all of them and hire new employees. Each and everyone of these MTA drivers makes an average of $50,000 per year which is way more than any bus riders. So they go on strike b/c they don't have the over time any more. If everyone does the work then there won't be any need for over time. Basically, they want more money and more over time on top of that.
The MTA was trying to cut the cost by reducing over time and so they all go on strike. This strike effects millions of people. They don't care. They just want there over time and more money. There are plenty of people who need the jobs. They are also willing to get pay less too. I would fire them all and hire those who really want to work.
The union leader was an idiot who is not professional at all. He respected no one and consistently being late. He not fit to be a leader. So we have an idiot as a union leader. And our presidential candidates talk about values. This country is becoming chaotic.
This strike is pathatic. It represent selfishness and uncaring the the MTA employees part. I am not a bus rider but I know what it's like to be one. So I do not support the MTA at all. I would have fire them all and get more reliable employees.

How can the union kick their ass? It's the union that broke the contract by striking. They do this every few years. Some one has got to step up and stiffen the stand. It's good to have a union to protect you but I hate union leaders who sparks the fire by feeding junk into the members mind to get more money. The leaders are always getting more money after the settlement. It's all about money at the expense of hard working people who need to put food on the table. I got a friend who works two jobs to support his family and he was effected big time.

Are you sure these MTA bus drivers make, on average, 50k/yr? Man, that's a lot for something a trained monkey can do. Geez, what the hell are we going to school for and what the hell are they complaining about?!? :|

MTA drivers make more than 50K a year!
MTA wanted to cut over time by getting part time drivers.
Now can some one tell me what right does the union have to stop that.

A side note, do you guys know what UPS drivers make?
They strike about 3 or 4 years ago. Why because that year UPS made alot of money. But the company makes less than 1 cent per package.

There was a woman who went on TV and said she needs more money to feed her 4 children. I would have told her to stop f*cking around
$50K per year is above the average compare to bus riders. Did you guys see that stupid idiot as the leader for the union? He makes too much money and over fed himself and nothing upstairs.
Fire them all and hire those who really wants to work. Those bus drivers really got bad attitudes too. Not all but enough to deter riders.
I would have said go back to work or I will get some one else. The monkeys can drive better than them. The monkeys are more loyal too.
