let the paranoia flow!

some ppl just open new windows and paste the copied link in their and there, no trace... cept ur homepage

Typing in a link/Pasting it in the address bar DOES NOT send a referrer field. Go ahead and get a packet sniffer and see for yourself. (That's why geocities images works with a copy/paste.) CLICKING A LINK WILL SENT A REFERRER SITE. TYPING IT/PASTING IT DOES NOT SEND A REFERRER.

<< Even if you type the url in they should be able to check your cookies to see where you came from - at least I think that is what they do >>

Only if you have your security settings pertaining to cookies set that way.

Accessing cookies across another domain is an illegal move. Any normal browser won't allow it.

I checked the briefcase out in the local OD. It sells for $20 and it's a leather imitation (vinyl). I ended up using the $15 off $50 coupon on a discounted leather chair.

<< Maybe you could have simply stated not to link it, nobody knows (or cares) what your thinking. >>

Funny, I was thinking the very same thing about your statement.

<<

<< i didnt link it for a very good reason. Perhaps you should respect that? >>

Okay, idiot...so why don't you enlighten us and tell us that "very good reason" why you didn't link it?

If you cant figure it out then who's the idiot? That mirror sucks in the morning I bet 😉

dude, stop this stupid linkified paranoia. let's get some good deal going here. thanks for the origianal post and thanks for the link.

Since this has turned into the "lets be paranoid about links" thread, I 'll pose the question:

Aren't there any remaining anonymous proxy servers (uhh, volunteered servers, not hostage) that can utilized with a link? I'm not suggesting that the following example is a good (or bad) proxy, but something similar to:
<Link removed, not working, perhaps needed a cookie to work>.
