<< I thought that the real problems with Dr. Laura were that she's a hypocrite who doesn't believe in divorce but is divorced herself, and as a therapist she's violated client confidentiality more than once, including with a client who was a politician.

If it's just a matter of liberals vs. conservatives, the conservatives are in the majority when it comes to talk radio, and conservative Dennis Prager doesn't receive any criticism of his morals (but he's a class act).

I've found that the more a person moralizes publicly, the worse their morals usually are.

I listen to Dr. Laura's show quite a bit, I'm a talk show junkie :) I'm sure she isn't everyone's cup of tea, but you should really be more accurate if you're going to speak out on the subject. Dr. Laura is not against all divorce, not at all. She *is* against parents divorcing who are in a non-abusive relationship and simply want to "move on" or have "fell out of love", this is because she is a child advocate. I think there is widom in that philosophy, why should a child pay the price for their parents transient emotions? She openly admits she has been divorced, there were no children from her previous marriage.

I'm not sure what your are referring to regarding breach of client confidentiality, but rest assured if it happened she would be in court on the losing side.

BTW Dennis Prager is a good guy but we don't get him in this market, we are starved for quality talk radio here in the DTW area.

most of you are correct in what you say but whether you agree or disagree there is one more point that you guys have not covered.
She professes to want to help people? ok. but the problem is that she has no compassion for others. She is intolerant and vicious in my opinion. I agree with a lot of what she says and disagree wi th plenty but I always disagree with the way she treats people.
Any of you ever listen to Dr Joy Brown?? I think in it one can see the difference between someone who cares and someone who does not. I cannnot leave Dr Laura's show on for more than 120 seconds at a time she gets me so sick. When she was younger and her show was too she used to be good. Now she got famous and now she no longer cares(if she ever did in the first place.)

I think the bottom line is (as many have already mentioned): if you do not like her, don't listen. I have a problem with Howard Stern, I find him to be offensive, etc. So what do I do? Not listen. I don't know where some of you get off saying stuff like "she's a whore" or point to websites suggesting they are "truth telling" when there is a pic of her at top with Adolf Hitler's mustache. Gimme a break.

That being said, I guess the only thing that bothers me, personally, about DL's show is that people actually call her and take her words to be "what they should do if they were decent people." It speaks more to the idiocy and insecurities of people, and the fact that she is a media hound catering to what the people want or want to hear.

Do most of you guys listen to talk radio? I never got into it, it's all about the stolen mp3s

<< Dan Rather is a prime example of a biased journalist. Sam Donaldson is another (especially with his famous "Come on Mr. President line that he continually hammered Reagan with - >>

How could Sam Donaldson have been biased _against_ Reagan when he's a Republican himself? In his younger days, he was even a Youth for Goldwater.

I hear so many critics of the media cry 'liberal bias,' but none ever give any solid examples of this.
