I was thinking that i could cash this and then switch back to my original plan, which cost me 5 bucks. read the fine print and didn't say anything about having to fulfill any contract time. you guys think i can pull this of

They sent me a check for $15. I trashed it. The montly fee ~$5 wasn't worth the hassle. For $75 though, I'd jump.

I generally change LD service every 3 or 4 months. ATT will send a check, then a few months later, MCI will call. Then I get another check for ATT. Back and forth while I make money in the process.

Yeah, it'll work. I've done this a few times with AT&T.

They send me a check, I switch to them, I switch back.
As long as there is no small print about min. term you're fine.

Should work just fine. I've even gotten the monthly fee waived before (but not recently). Seems like they send a smaller check right after I switch to someone else (they just offered $35), and then a better offer a little bit later.

Just don't sign up for direct billing to your credit card because they will keep billing it every month after you switch to another long distance carrier. Once you catch it they will stop but then comes trying to get the money they got out of you up until that time. In essence you are double billed, AT&T and whoever you switched to. AT&T will claim they were never notified about the switch. I never got reimbursed for 3 months of double billing from them. I tried for months and it was a major hassle. AT&T sucks!

You wouldn't happen to know where they are offering this would you?

I know better than to think this was something that was mailed to you and you were the only one who received benefit from it. Therefore that would go under Brag and Moan. But I am sure you will post a link.....

Actually I made a pretty penny in College. MCI and Sprint both buy student lists and send these out. If you have 2 phone lines and cycle every month, you can actually make roughly $100 / month after the switching costs. I never stayed more than 2 months, and they saw that as an opportunity to win me back I guess.

Ah, AT&T is still doing that eh. I used to get checks from them everytime I switched. I've made $300 that way over the years. Used to be $100 checks. I thought they had stopped that. Sure wish I could get back on the list. I guess I abused it too much.

I got this from AT&T a while ago when I got pissed at them for charging me too much (even though it was my fault) and cancelled. The check arrives, you must enter a code on it and endorse/deposit it and that's it. I signed up again during last summer (and paid for my HIGH summer electric bill) and then signed up for AT&T online bill statements which earned me a $25 home depot GC (i bought my first drill set with it).

o yea, the best part...i forgot to cancel it so far, since I use another cheap calling service, but I asked about restrictions and they let me sign up for the plan with no monthly fees. Even though the domestic calling rate is about 10-15 cents per minute, i don't use it, therefore do not get charged. The first bill i got was for a balance of -$5.00 since they gave me a credit for the cost of switching services from my local provider.

I still have the balance and have made $100.

It was a "hot deal" but I'm sure they somehow screen ppl when they send these things out. I know ppl who have played them switching game before since MCI also has a lot of deals. I used to be a on a use $25 - get one free blockbuster rental coupon deal with them. Worked out great since my then-GF was out of country and charged many $$$'s.

Worth a try though, anyone know of any other company I can switch to after I cancel AT&T?

I got a $100 check from ATT a couple years ago. I cashed it and they never even switched my service. Thanks ATT!

Yeah I've probably received $200-300 switching over the years, but last year's MCI small business $150 Amazon gift cert. was by far the best deal yet. My computer games continue to look good on the Hercules 3D Prophet II MX card I bought with it. Thanks again MCI.

thats funny this happened to you, it also happened to me recently. I've been trying to get my money back for over a month now. They owe me over $40.00 and I've made several phone calls to them. I've just about given up also. the first call they didn't even believe me that this happened and blew me of. The 2nd call they finally admitted they made a mistake. Never will I go back to AT@T for anything!

<< doubt you can getout of it thateasily but maybe so, fine prints are hard to read >>

when they verify everything ask them. When i got my $75 check, I asked and they required only one billing cycle. I can cancel anytime after that.

Fior what it's worth, AT&T is a majot hassle when it comes to cancelations. You will call and call and they will keep sending you bills and pretending they have no ideas about whatever cancellation order you had put. This is their usual MO. They will give up in the end, though. If you are persistent and prepared to play this game and win, those ATT deals are pretty hot, IMHO. I've never tried sending them a certified mail, I suspect that could make whole cancelation process much easier.

I have not had to much trouble switching back-in-forth just that $5 bucks SWB charges. I think they base the the dollar amount of the check on how much LD ya use. We used to spend over a 100 a month 2 years back and they sent me a $100 check to switch back a couple of times :) Also if ya have a sprint PCS phone sprint LD will give a 50 free min. a month 7 cents after and no monthly fee.

I got one for 80.00 some time ago. Resently I got one for 75.00 like his. They have been pestering me to change, but they can't match the plan I have. That'ss when they start sending the bigger checks. I got 4.9 a minute 24/7 and only a 2.00 charge if my bell is less than 20.00. It never is and my bills have never been as low as with this plan. I got it from lowermybils.com. OPex is the company. I've had them for a long time now, and they're a great legit company.
