Pretty good deal if you need good CDs. Personally, I wouldn't use anything but Kodak CDs for Audio unless you NEED 80 minute CDs. I've found the Kodak Gold discs are the most compatible with audio cd players, especially ones that are picky about CDRs, and portable ones that will play, but won't offer skip protection.

Not bad, but (1) you end up paying tax and shipping, and (2) you must buy 2 spindles to get the third and make this a good deal.

If you go here, you can get these same discs for about $15 per spindle (plus shipping), and buy them one at a time, and however many you want.

These are really that good? I found some at CompUSA for, hold your breath, $0.01. I also found a 25pk 8X CD-R for $0.01 too. No kidding. Anyways, you guys probably won't believe me. Tell me how to post a scan of my receipt and I will prove it.

Guys, thanks for mentioning these Kodaks. I just ordered a few spindles of a variety of cd-rs from CDRExpress. I plan on sampling them. One of the spindles was Kodak gold. It's what CDRExpress recommended for maximum compatibility. I'm always looking for the best bargain on compatible cd-rs for my audio burns.

Price for the Kodaks was ~60 cents shipped.

LiQiCE--For my worst case compatiblity testing, I use my POS portable to see if they will buffer to anti-skip, and my brother's POS Bose factory player. So far, I have found that TY, Mitsui, and amazingly phythocyaline (sp?) Riteks (from CDRExpress, which they no longer carry) are the only ones that pass all my compatibility tests. In fact, I have found no player that won't play these.

Maybe we should start a thread in OT or Peripherals, and post our experiences and ID for best audio compatibility. I really think most people don't have a clue about audio compatibility. Maybe this would get something more than, "I've heard xxxx is good."

Can somebody CDRID these? I can post my id after I get home tonight.

Kodak claims that the Gold and the Gold/silver will last much longer (100+ years)
When I first started buying the Kodaks, If I got the Golds for anything close to a dollar I was thrilled. $.50 for the Gold Ultima is a great price even today. I suspect that Kodak may be discontinuing this line in favor of the Silver/gold, Thus the discounts. Maybe because the market for "quality" CDR's is very soft compared to "inexpensive".
In the past year I have downloaded >300 Grateful Dead shows in the Shorten format and I wouldn't put them on anything but the Kodaks. By the way this is a completely legitimate and legal use of CDR technology, as the Grateful Dead Orginization specifically condones the trading of their live shows, incuding all digital formats.
