NewsRover is a very nice client, and they provide a search feature. Price is reasonable.
-can do incremental searching of messages/headers via downloading of headers
-can do binary searches via newsrover search engine (They sponsor/host the search site), however message searches seems to be out of date or didn't work a while back
- supports downloading via .NZB files
- can generate .NZB files from the above search feature. So, search on "foo.bar", find the messages you want, and then create a .nzb file for later.
- handles auto-unpacking of .rar archives, and also handles auto-verification of .par2 files.

Newsleecher with Giganews is the win.. Theres a company that has $14.95 for unlimited though, I may switch b/c I'm paying $29.95 for Giganews unlimited, with SSL though.. SSL is a little extra layer of privacy if you don't want your ISP to know you are downloading porn or anything 🙂

This is only useful if you want to download binaries. http://groups.google.com will cover other text-based usage. Also, don't forget that your cable provider probably supplies you with a usenet account. Comcast give you 2GB/mo which does not include header downloads.

I pay for Newshosting @14.95/mo and very happy with it.

I've tried them all, and newshosting is quality as is giganews.

Giganews > Easynews > Newshosting > *

You get what you pay for.

They offer service that is as reliable as can be either way which has always managed to max out any connection I've tried with them.

Haven't tried easy though

Whatever service it is that TimeWarner uses isn't much, but retention has improved and I'm just not a bin junky enough for a regular monthly plan, but several of the servers offer shorter terms like 24 hrs which can be real handy if you miss something with the free ISP provided server. I've downloaded so much music its getting really hard to manage with mostly manual tools.

Once hd video kicks in the storage is going to get crazy.

still using my free news server with the former Bellsouth...if/when it disappears i will certainly give one of these a try.
Newsbin pro FTW.

Newsbin Pro is the best...IMHO.

They changed this to invite only, just got the email from them.

This is a schweet deal, for sure. If you need an invite, PM me. I don't know how many I have, but I'll try to help.

EDIT: Deal is over. No more invites. Sorry!
