hans007- did you transfer $ from an existing account or did you need to make a deposit from another source? also, did you need to do anything special to get the $25 (like open the new account from a special web page) or did it just show up after you opened the account inside the regular eTrade website?

I'm no hans007, but I made a transfer from an external account for $1. Simple.

Link from OP is www.etrade.com/earnmore

I still haven't gotten mine open, I signed up on Feb 20th. I waited for my sig card for a couple weeks before calling (March 19th) and then they asked me to send in my license via fax (March 27th). I'm now on the phone with them again (April 18th)...hopefully this time it will get open.
I probably could have done this faster, but it's been something on the back burner so I don't blame etrade for slowness, I've been slow myself.
The operator even said sorry for the slowness but I said I had been slow to pursue it myself and he laughed.

We'll see soon if they will finally open my damn account, so much work for $25.

it takes a couple weeks to get everything going - you cant log in until they mail you an account number but this is working and still valid.

Has anyone received any of their external transfer verification emails? Have four outside accounts, all verified by the two deposits, yet they won't let me transfer anything out until I enter a verification code (which for some reason they're not emailing me). Can't even change the email address that the verification emails are sent to (doesn't seem to be any place to do it) to see if that would make a difference (don't see why it would though)

Mine took about a month to open but it has been fine and I have been putting money in it like a real savings account. And I got my 25$ with my first statement.

I got my 25 after my very first statement. Since then I've put most of my current savings (Capitol Federal only had %0.65 so %5.05 was much appreciated anyways).

edited: my spelling sucks without firefox... darn work computers

Does anyone have that a link to the page (don't remember where it is) that compares the savings accounts from various companies? I'm really looking for one that has "virtual" accounts, so that I can made an "emergency" virtual account and maybe a "maintenance" virtual account, but all in one account at one institution (preferrably with a decent savings rate). Does anyone know of something like this?

Thanks!

good luck. Etrade stinks, I used to work there and still have friends that do. If you have no problems with your account then everything will run smooth, but if you are unlucky then the poor communication is gonna drive you crazy.

I've had an enjoyable experiance on the phone so far with etrade. I have had to call them several times to get mine open and each time I hung up with a pleasurable experience, I can't say the same for Real Rhapsody support which I call at least 3 times a year (2 times a year to claim my 2 free months).
