I thought my email said 2-3 days, but either way, I assume it will be open on Monday.

saw the add on TV but then forgot about doing it. thanks. this is hot. curently i get 1.0 % interest on my savings account so this means about $50 a year in free interest.

cool i already had an etrade brokerage account, so the signup took litterally a minute. free $25... not bad, thats a really nice dinner.

Looks like you answered my question. Etrade says: Must be a new account opened with new funds. Offer applies to one new account per customer. I was wondering if existing Etrade Brokerage Account customers would be eligible upon opening a new Savings Account, or if they meant totally new Etrade customers.

Gotta jump on this before it expires.

it took 2- 3 weeks to get your account number in the snail mail but it worked and then you can log into your account.

you also get ~$1 more when they verify your account by making deposits into it.

wow u guys are pathetic.

go threadcrap elsewhere. Obviously the OP finding this deal made some people happy.

To OP:
:thumbsup:

it would be a deal if people actually had an intention of staying with e*trade. Otherwise, it is just scamming scheme... which is exactly how the OP presents this. Anyway, w/e i'm sure some people will actually use this the way it is intended.

Actually, I think people are using this promotion EXACTLY as intended. Etrade obviously wanted people to try the site out and were willing to pay $25/person knowing that some small percentage of people might stay onboard. And everyone who signed up for this will have to try the site out to withdraw their cash which is what Etrade intended.

If people are already intending on staying with Etrade, why would they need to bother giving people $25 to sign on? Also, they could have easily raised the minimum deposit to discourage people from just collecting the $25, but as I mentioned before, they just want people to try the site, knowing that a small percentage will find they actually like using their service and will change their mind and stay.

I still haven't received my sig card I have to sign and send back to open the account. I finally decided to call them up, I have to now fax in a copy of my drivers license to prove my DOB.

Yep, I had the same problem. I received a call a week after I expected the packet and was told that I needed to fax in a utility bill to prove my address. No clue why they had questions about my address since no other companies have complained before.

Finally got my signature card. Did anyone actually read it?

Paraphrasing:
======================
By signing below, under penalty of perjury, you confirm all the info below is true:
a) The info on this card is true
b) I am not subject to backup witholdings because, 1) I have not been notified by the IRS that I need to have back up with holdings, 2) the IRS blah, blah, 3) blah, blah. [Cross off item b if it does not apply to you]
c) I am a US person
d) I am not a US person and I have attached form XYZ.
======================

Let's see....b is the dreaded tripple-negative, and c & d can't both be true.

I called E*Trade to ask them about it and even the CSR said it was poorly written.

Seriously, what's the right thing to do for "b"? 😕

Does this affect your credit?

The signature form said that you give them permission to check your credit, but when I called, they told me that is just the name 'n address check type of credit report that doesn't affect your score.

Does anybody know how much it cost to close your account out????

I've been told it's 50 bucks.

If you want to trade stocks, you need to go with scott trade.

welli got my $25 so , i guess if you have a brokerage account its not the same as a savings account.

the good thing is if you already have a brokerage account you dont even have to enter your information in.
