you can bring in your digital media card or put on cd/floppy, i don't think they care what media it's on. and as far as the print quality goes, i think they're alright, i mean hey, they're free!

The lady at Target didn't know, all I could tell was it was some sort of Kodak machine. Also, I hadn't been checking the machine type before the poor results, but in the future, I'll pay much more attention as I now think that makes a big difference in print quality. Thanks for the input on the specific machines. All I had was the back of the pictures to tell what type of paper was used. I assume most paper manufacturer matches the machine (but maybe not always), but that still doesn't tell you the machine it was printed on.

macosx - You didn't mention what machine your local Target uses.

My local Target uses a Gretag Digital DLS with the Kodak DLS LP software. It looks a heck of a lot nicer than the retro-looking Kodak minilabs at my local RiteAids (which output poor quality prints). So I plan to give them a try once I have some pictures to print.

My favorite so far is still the Fuji Frontier Digital Minilabs that you find at Sam's Club, Walgreens, Longs Drugs, etc.

Print quality wasnt that good. I could see artifacts and jaggies in my prints. The prints were 4MP 2272x1575.

The only thing Im wondering is if the aspect ratio screwed things up.

I took them in as is, but thats at a 4:3 ratio. The prints I got were 4x6 or a 3:2 ratio.... I wonder if they would look better if I cropped them first...

Did the photo you got back have the same framing as the original?

I suspect they cropped them....so no distortion. (example: if you sent in a 4"x12" image, it would be printed 4"x6"...with 6" cropped)

Thanks OP

Yes Free is Free but the machine at my target in IL is bad. Pictures came out too bright. The only comparison I can make is to those Kodak do it yourself machines. I used one at walmart for 2 8x10's and they came out great. I couldn't use the one at target for the free prints, I had to have them do it for me, their kodak machine won't print single 4x6's, it will only print 3 of the same 4x6's on one sheet :/.

Also 2MP can print 8x10 even though I hear ppl say otherwise.

These types of coupons always state, "Void if copied, transferred," has anyone had any problems with a B&M accepting this type of coupon printed on your printer?

Thanks

Nopers. Worked just fine for me. The pics were a little dark but not too bad for being free!
Thanks, OP

used the coupon 3 times... picture quality was good from my Canon A70, but as said above, the different aspect ratios (1.5:1 compared to 1.33:1) caused some cropping. I'll have to remember to crop them myself if I get digital prints.

well... got my free prints from Target today...

For me, brightness was good, blues were excellent, reds were good -- but greens were way too yellow

I've only gotten in on this deal and the RiteAid near-freebie deals -- so my experience is quite limited.
However, it seems to me that quality is all over the place. My first set of prints from RiteAid were decent,
my second set (of the exact same prints) was MUCH darker. Now with Target, the greens were VERY
yellowish -- to the point of making the "green grass" shots unusable.

Is there anyone anywhere that can produce accurate prints of images on a consistent basis?

For free, it's hard to complain too much... I've gotten many usefull prints for no cost. However, if I had
to pay full price for these 25 from Target (or the dark ones from RiteAid) -- I'd be pretty pissed.

For people with a decent quality photo-printer -- in the range of a Canon i960 -- how do the prints compare versus the digital prints from places like Target and Rite-Aid?

Thanks-
ttown

I managed to print 600 or so prints on this coupon by going to 3 different targets and sweet talking two of the managers. The quality is ok from my powershot s20 the best pictures i have seen come from walgreens where they have the fuji printer and you walk up slap your card in crop rotate blah blah then print come back in 45 minutes for (35 prints) and they were awesome.

The aspect ratio messed me up a bit too.
Anyone have a suggestion for a program that can lock a 3/2 aspect ratio crop that can be resized and changed from portrait to landscape keeping the 3/2 ratio?
I color correct and brightness and contrast before bringing to target.

I use Adobe PhotoShop Elements for cropping and touching up. You can probably crop with IrfanView (great freeware program, use google to find) and also touch up.

Managed to get some prints on the very last day. I thought the quality was great. taken on a c4000 olympus, the pics had good color and brightness. Keep on the lookout for a repeat of this, great deal.

I got in at the last minute, but it took days not one hour. Their machine "needed a part". Bottom line, quality was only fair. I crop to exact 4x6 proportions in Photoshop, but they still trim the image, so at best you're getting 90-95% of what you submit. The highlights are blown out and overall the saturation was weak. I'd give Target a 4/10. OTOH, Walgreens is faster and way superior quality.

I had 50 pictures from a trip printed at target......and that day took the same pics to Costco for developement.

Man, the target pics from the Issaquah, Wa store really really suck. It appears like the red level is lacking....skin tones look pale... bascially looks like a inkjet print that's been left in the sun...faded.

The costco prints were spot-on to what I remember and what they look like on my computer.

I burned my Target prints.... for me, it wasn't worth my time....
