I purchased this camera about three weeks ago for $199 at Best Buy. I have been very impressed. It has 1800x1200 Max resolution. It has 8MB internal storage and of course it can use compact flash. It can hold 5 high quality pictures, 7 or 8 medium, and around 115 of the lower quality which is 640x480 I believe with the internal storage. It has 2x digital zoom which is decent. umm it has a very nice built in thumbnail viewer and full size viewer and some other menu features.

The battery life is pretty good in my opinion..with the LCD (1.8in) screen on, it can get maybe an hour and a half on 4 AA. With it off, I am not sure but it could probably take 1000+ pictures without a problem. I think the main battery problem is transfering pictures from it to a pc. I read that it eats up a lot of power so I suggest you get a power adapter (which is not included) for transfering pics. HP has them on their website for $50..but I suggest just getting the specs of the adapter and picking one up at radio shack for like $20.

pls edit the title...
this is called "deal engineering" or whatever u like to call...

it's rebate + coupon...

I got this from staples last wk using the pm to buydig.com and the 30 off coupon, search for the other thread + free 32mb cf for $144 incld tax. After using it at the autoshow...the camera is really slow to save pictures and it shows up on the lcd screen while saving which i didnt like. I got the 315 to and it takes pictures much faster, but the 315 is 2x as big. Overall its pretty good except for the slow saving time.

that is an option you can simply just disable on the 318 !
